Bing 1.1 brings Lasso to the iPad

The folks over at Bing have just released a new update to the Bing iPad app with an interesting new feature: Lasso. The team discovered that currently, it takes at least nine steps to copy and paste text in an iPad in order to search for something. But now, they've managed to bring it down to two steps. Using the Lasso tool, all users have to do is draw a circle around a term they would like to search for, and they're done. The Bing iPad app will then launch a new search with the selected word. You no longer have to press and hold your finger on tiny on-screen text to copy some text.

Unfortunately this feature doesn't extend to the whole of iOS (will future versions of Windows Phone use this method to copy text?), and only works within the Bing app. But for what it's worth, it's a great way to save time when searching. Other improvements to the Bing app includes an improved movie experience which makes it easier to find times to hit your local theater to catch a movie.

Bing 1.1 for iPad is available now on the App Store. Check it out and let us know what you think.
